Known for our commitment to delivering high-quality mechanical solutions, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator with a background in mechanical HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with 2+ years of experience to help drive the growth and success of our projects.

Job Summary: The Construction Estimator will be responsible for providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for large commercial and industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical construction, an in-depth understanding of HVAC/piping/plumbing systems, and experience estimating costs for such systems. This role will involve working closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure project estimates are both accurate and competitive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers for pricing on materials, equipment, and services.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC systems, piping systems, plumbing systems, and associated equipment for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
  • Work closely with project managers and engineers to understand project scope, specifications, and schedule to ensure accurate estimating.
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of materials, labor, equipment costs, and any allowances or contingencies.
  • Analyze bid documents, perform risk assessments, and identify value engineering opportunities to provide cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Maintain and update cost databases for materials, labor rates, and subcontractor services to ensure estimates remain competitive and accurate.
  • Assist in reviewing and responding to change orders, providing accurate pricing and scope modifications.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to ensure the estimate aligns with project objectives and to provide support during project execution.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Stay up to date with the latest mechanical industry trends, codes, and technologies to provide competitive and innovative solutions.
  • Provide support to senior estimators, project managers, and other team members as needed to ensure successful project bids and timely submission.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating mechanical construction projects, specifically HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for large commercial and industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing) and their components, including installation methods and materials.
  • Experience with quantity take-offs, material estimation, and labor cost analysis for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ProEst, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost estimations.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, as well as mechanical codes and standards.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP) are a plus but not required.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Performance-based bonuses
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and more
